I am FINALLY sharing my experience at the Katelyn James Workshop! Our first wedding season(Texas has two!) has been absolutely crazy and wonderful, but I’ve been running around like a madd lady since February! Right after I photographed Taryn and Mason’s wedding in April I hopped on a plane the next morning for Katelyn’s workshop! I, of course, took Jason with me, and we made a vacation out of it (You can see my blog post from that here!). We were back on Friday, and then I photographed Tess and Heith’s wedding! It was crazy, but this was THE BEST thing I have ever done for my business and my heart. I learned so much (TOO much to retain, haha) and made so many new friends who share the same love and struggles that I do. Katelyn is a true gem who opened her home up to 17 strangers, but treated us like family.
Her whole family had a part in making the workshop come together, and they were rockstars. Her sister, Emy, cooked all of our meals (they were delicious), the moms took care of Katelyn and Emy’s babies, and Michael was tech support and her all-around assistant.
The workshop was two days. But I’m not talking about 8-5 days, they were TEN to TWELVE HOURS long! Katelyn went through hundreds of slides, and I scribbled as much information as I could in my cute notebook that she gifted all of us. I keep joking that I need to go back to her other workshops!
But really, if I had the option, I would do this all over again, and I can’t wait to see most of these ladies again at UNITED!
The next 6 photos are from Katelyn’s blog! You can see the full post here. Our styled shoot was a little less than ideal. ha! It was raining almost the entire time that we were at the workshop, and the temperature was around 50 degrees! I was FREEZING. It doesn’t get that cold here in Texas ;) Haley, our model, was such a trooper! Here’s what was actually happening…she was standing on a shower curtain! If you look reeeeally closely, you can see raindrops.
Haley had the most contagious laugh I’ve ever seen! She just beamed with joy. It eventually got a little TOO rainy, and we took them to the porch. This bouquet is what heart eyes were made for. This is what the inside of Katelyn’s HOUSE looks like! #swoon. I obviously need to find out Katelyn’s hair secrets because she looks flawless after being rained on!
Thank-you to these amazing vendors who made this happen!
