My Memaw’s 90th Birthday Session

My Memaw is turning 90 TODAY, and I’m actually surprised she agreed to go through this “torture” with me 😂. She’s sassy and can hold her own, and when I said she had to wear a dress to her photoshoot, she wasn’t having it! She said she would much rather wear jeans and a top, but she did it for me (this is actually the dress she wore to my wedding 6 years ago ☺️) and we had so much fun!

A few fun facts about her:

She LOVES John Wayne and owns every movie he was in.

She also loves to fish!

Her favorite colors are lavender and turquoise.

She was born at the start of the Great Depression. Sugar was a hot commodity in that time, so she never had a birthday cake!

She really hates being called Memaw (LOL), but she didn’t tell me that until I was about 25! So I try to call her “grandma” in her presence, but old habits die hard.

Yes, she really is 90! haha. I hope I age this well!

Photo of Memaw and Pawpaw cutting their cake in 1948. She said He asked her to marry him after they were dating for a week. She said no. He asked 3 more times, and the third time she finally said yes. They were engaged for a MONTH and married after knowing each other for a whopping TWO MONTHS! They were married over 50 years when he passed away.  She loves playing cards with the family, dominoes with her girlfriends, and is a slot QUEEN!  I made this little cake topper with glitter paper from H-E-B and printer paper + a glue stick!  Her main squeeze, John Wayne made a special appearance as well ;) She has EVERY movie he ever starred in (which is A LOT).  She made this dress for her senior prom. She said it was baby blue back then and she wore a slip underneath. The details in it are so elegant! My grandpa gave her this nugged “years ago” and she had it turned into a pendant.
