If I were to choose ONE lighting setup to use for a full wedding I would choose my on camera flash with a magsphere attachment!
I LOVE the Magmod Magsphere because it diffuses light beautifully and it’s so versatile. I use it every time a bride is getting ready. I use it when I can’t find good light for bridal details. I use it for indoor ceremonies. I use it for receptions. And I even use it for night portraits when needed! It’s the real MVP in my camera bag and EVERY wedding photographer needs one.
I don’t have firsthand experience with other on-flash modifiers like the Gary Fong, but I trust Magmod’s testing and research when they found that the Magsphere loses less than one stop of light compared to 2-4x the amount of lost light from other similar modifiers.
I also love that it’s indestructible. You can shove it in your bag, drop it on the floor, or just walk around with it on your flash without worrying about it falling off. (I tried the dupe version of this and it was a nightmare. I lost it at my first wedding!)
(PS this is not an ad, I just really love them and want to spread the word!)
What if I told you ALL of the below images were taken with flash? Because they were! And most of them involve the Magsphere.
I think flash has a negative connotation because that’s what “Uncle Bob” brings to his niece’s wedding, and flashes everyone 😂😭But flash doesn’t have to be the bad guy. Flash can be the helpy helperton when it comes to tough lighting situations, and the Magsphere is a flash’s best friend–If inanimate objects had best friends 😂
Just when you thought light and airy photos with flash were impossible–they’re possible!

Comment below with your flash struggles! I’ll be creating more content fit to your needs, so knowing what you struggle with will be very helpful! And let me know if you use the magsphere! A lot of my photographer friends do and can’t believe how long they lived without it.
