I grew up around Fredericksburg and it has come such a long way since I was a kid! Me and my friends used to roam downtown on Sundays just browsing. It was pretty quiet and very charming. Now there are over 1 MILLION visitors every year and it’s a very popular location for proposals, because it’s really the perfect spot to surprise your partner while you’re on a little getaway.
Here are my favorite locations for proposals in Fredericksburg! (PS these are in no particular order because they all have something unique to offer and it’s a hard choice!
The best month propose? Unless we have a big freeze, anytime is great! If you want the vineyard look plan for April through early November. Early Summer is best for the vines and grapes though!
Also keep in mind that most vineyards are not open late, so it’s not easy to get “sunset photos.” The best time of day is usually right when they open. You’ll also have the most privacy at this time, and it’s not AS hot!
Every winery has their own way of doing proposals. Some will require you to book a tasting and they work the proposal in at the end. Some require a vineyard tour. Some require a fee to take photos. You just call and ask them about their proposals and they’ll get you squared away.
Signor Vineyards has it all–vines, flowers, and cute architecture. If your girl loves flowers bring her here! Wildseed Farms is usually what people think of first, but they’re only blooming a few months out of the year and many of their flowers are off limits, so this is the next best thing for the flower girlies.
They have a couple of options for proposing. This spot is near the entrance, but pretty secluded and always has flowers! When you book me for your proposal we go over all of these options. I typically send screenshots of Google Earth maps so you can see exactly where you need to go as well as a phone call to make sure everything goes seamlessly and we have a plan!

Another super popular option for proposals at Signor is right in front of Joanna’s Market with this beautiful rose arch. It is usually blooming pink like this around Memorial Day!
Signor is also pet friendly!
Becker Vineyards is another favorite and I’m there frequently for proposals! It was one of the first vineyards established in Fredericksburg and hosts events as well. The typical proposal spots here are either in the vineyard or under their gorgeous Oak tree in front of the vineyard. It is also pet friendly!
This oak tree is a Live Oak so it will be green 99% of the year!
You can also rent this little cabin! Josh’s family rented it when he proposed to Caitlin and added cute decorations inside. Becker also provides wine glasses and a gift bag. It’s great for a moment alone after all of the excitement. The vines and oak tree are right behind it to the left.
My clients who book me for 1 hour have time to go down to the cellar (or whatever they call it at Becker ;)
Augusta Vin is always a favorite. They have changed the way they do proposals many times, so I’m not 100% sure of what they allow now, but I have photographed beautiful proposals in their vineyards and on their wine tours (I pretend I’m taking marketing photos ;)
This used to be a fan favorite spot, but recently Augusta Vin has not allowed proposals here on the weekend because they have a band that sets up in this area. If you’re interested in this spot it’s worth calling to chat with them.
This is a beautiful spot in the Winter when grape vines are dead and you’re uncertain about flowers and greenery being pretty. They have a beautiful fountain and the rooms are cute in the background.
If you’re wanting a proposal with a view Contigo Ranch is right for you. It’s SO beautiful any time of year. They also have lodging so you can stay at the ranch and have a cozy getaway 15-20 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. The bluff is the perfect spot to watch sunsets and is beautiful for portraits of the two of you after she says yes! (The Marry Me signage was provided by Alpha Lit Austin/Hill Country).
I’m throwing this one in the ring because it is GORGEOUS! It is VERY seasonal though. The best months are March – early April (bluebonnets), April (red poppies), May (the end of the poppies + other pretty flowers like the ones shown below), late September-early November (LOTS of flowers).
A Few other locations to consider:
William Chris (open later!)
Das Peach Haus (too hot in the Summer but great in the Spring and Fall!)
Altstadt Brewery (they have a beautiful garden in the back that’s private)
Grape Creek Vineyards
